The Spectrum Root:
Planting Seeds of Awareness
A space grounded in love, faith, and advocacy, The Spectrum Root was born from a mother’s unwavering belief in her child’s potential. Founded by Shanna Baker, this platform reflects a deeply personal journey, one that began with quiet concerns, difficult moments, and the courage to trust her instincts. Through early intervention, persistence, and grace, she has witnessed her son grow, thrive, and exceed expectations. What started at home has blossomed into a purpose-driven mission: to uplift, educate, and remind families that every child’s path is unique and filled with possibility.
Meet Shanna Baker
Shanna Baker, also known as Shanna Bianca, is a proud Fayetteville, Georgia native, entrepreneur, and devoted mother whose greatest title is “AuSome Mom” to her phenomenal five-year-old son. Born and raised in Fayetteville, GA. Shanna’s journey into autism advocacy began not in a classroom or boardroom, but in her living room, watching her vibrant two-year-old slowly stop talking.
While many reassured her that “boys talk late,” Shanna’s educational background and mother’s intuition would not allow her to ignore the signs. Shortly after his second birthday, her son began speech therapy. When progress seemed limited, she trusted her instincts again changing therapists and adding occupational therapy. Within six months, she witnessed tremendous growth. By age three, he entered school, and with continued support including speech, OT, and ABA therapy, he began to flourish.
At four years old, after a deferred diagnosis the year prior, her son was formally diagnosed with Autism Level 1 with a caveat of ADHD. Though she had been walking this journey since he was two, seeing the diagnosis on paper brought a wave of grief. Shanna cried for three days, mourning the expectations she once held. But in true resilience, she rose with renewed determination to ensure her son had every tool and opportunity to thrive.
Today, at five years old, he speaks in complete sentences, initiates play with peers, counts to 100 and by tens, recognizes letters, colors, shapes, animals, writes his name and sight words, and continues to surpass milestones. Through tears, therapies, appointments, and triumphs, Shanna has learned that autism is not a disability it is a different ability.
Her journey is rooted in faith, advocacy, and unwavering belief in her son’s limitless potential.
